Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do first after I discover fire, water, mold, storm or hazardous-material damage?

The first step is to ensure everyone is safe, then call Rocky Top Restoration — do not attempt major cleanup yourself. It’s critical to start mitigation quickly so damage doesn’t worsen.

How quickly can your team respond — and do you offer 24/7 emergency services?

We understand emergencies don’t wait for business hours. We are available any time, day or night, to respond promptly and help limit further damage.

What does the restoration process involve (for water, fire, mold, or other damage)?

The process typically includes: assessment of damage, containment/mitigation, water extraction or debris removal (if needed), drying and dehumidification, cleaning and sanitization, odor removal (for smoke or mold), and rebuilding or repairs as needed. The exact steps depend on the type and extent of damage.

How long does restoration usually take, and will I need to move out during the process?

Timeframes vary based on severity. Small jobs might take a few days, major damage several weeks. In some cases, especially with extensive structural damage or mold remediation, temporary relocation may be recommended for safety and comfort.

Will my homeowner’s insurance cover restoration costs?

Many insurance policies cover sudden, accidental damage (like burst pipes or fire). But coverage depends on your specific policy and what caused the damage. It’s best to check with your insurance provider — we will provide documentation and assist in claims.

Can mold or smoke odors be completely removed?

Yes — we typically use proper cleaning, deodorization, air filtration, and sometimes ozone or thermal-fogging to neutralize odors. That said, odor removal is most effective when contaminated materials are properly cleaned or replaced.

Do you handle hazardous-material remediation as well as ordinary fire, water, mold, and storm damage?

Yes — we provide hazardous-material cleanup in addition to fire, water, mold and storm damage restoration. We follow safety protocols and proper disposal methods to ensure the property and its occupants are safe.

How can I get started — and what information do you need from me to begin?

To get started, simply contact us, describe the type of damage and when it occurred, and (if safe) provide access or photos of affected areas. From there we will schedule an inspection, assess damage, and provide a detailed plan and estimate.
